wits and bits

I'm getting lazier with this blog. To be honest, I'm surprised I've had as much consistency as I have so far. I got my prom dress yesterday. My mother, being the spontaneous bitch that she is, drove of to my father's around 8, waking everyone in the house up in the process. I wasn't there; I was asleep at Anthony/Tom/Jermaine/Trevor's place, so my father called me and told me my mother's spur-of-the-moment, tarded intentions. My car was left at Anthony's and my mother, sister, and I all left for what I thought was going to be dress shopping. We ended up going to Union City for Krispy Kreme donuts on my mother's whim. Her spontaneity can be annoying at times, but it always keeps me on my toes, and it's almost always some sort of half-assed adventure. I tried a "fresh hot" Krispy Kreme donut for the first time, and it really was an experience all in itself. I don't find it amusing that my mother took me for donuts before I went prom dress shopping though. I'm obviously weight obsessed enough. That's not going to help in the slightest. We went to Burlington at the Great Mall, found nothing, and then went to some little hole in the wall a few stores over called Fashionista Style Boutique or something of the sort. The dress I found and eventually ended up buying was hand crafted and created for the intention of modeling. It was worn once in a fashion show and then donated to the Boutique. It ended up fitting me pretty well. My mother apparently cried when she saw me in it. I didn't see any tears, but that didn't stop her from telling me how the dress was "made for me" and all sorts of flattering shit. The dress was originally 400 dollars or so, but it was marked down to about 150 for a quick sale. The beading is phenomenal -- magical, really. I've never seen such a well crafted dress. We went back to Burlington and got some shoes and a shawl and went home. Shopping in all took less than an hour and a half. I was thrilled. My mother called my father and asked him to invite his mother over, so I ended up having to wear my dress in front of my father, mother, grandmother, sister, uncle, and uncle's girlfriend. They were all very kind in their compliments, so it wasn't a terrible experience or anything like that; it was just embarrassing for me. I'm not too thrilled that I'm not going to prom with someone I'm romantically involved/interested in, but I'll make the best of it. An experience is an experience. I was dropped off at Anthony's after everyone left, and ended up napping for a good two/three hours before going home. Yesterday wasn't particularly productive, but I am mowing the lawn today, and that's good!

fair warning, 35.

God damnit. I didn't post again yesterday? I guess it slipped my mind. The Cold concert at Slim's wasn't too great. Mom got sick and left before the first opening band even ended their set. The first opening band played fine, and more than likely the most passionately out of all three bands, but their image was one to laugh at (the emo haircuts and metal hair isn't a good look for anyone and really never was). The second opening band was as boring as elevator music. Cold not only took forever to start their set, but when the set began, the band wasn't even present. They just played a 10-15 minute timeline clip of where they came from, how they began, and how highly they seem to think of themselves now. I'm all for pride, but I seemed to be more of an arrogant move from a band that had some mainstream success and clung to that for dear life. That entire escapade turned me off the entire rest of the set, which I didn't think was that good anyway. I have trouble saying that, but that's how I feel. Zach was being loud and kind of douchey (especially with the second band), as was my sister, and it just got frustrating after a while. Zach had a bad day; that's fine, whatever. I'll get over it. Brittany is Brittany; that's fine, too. I was just a bit embarrassed at the time. My mom doesn't seem to be in very good health, either. Dad had to drop her off at her place, go back home, take her car back up to Santa Clara, have me follow in the Corolla behind him, and then go back home. It was irriting, but that's just part of becoming an adult: doing things you don't want to do. Dad didn't want to either though, so we shared our sleepy post-concert pain. My mother will more than likely be okay. She always bounced back and probably always will. She just better go to the fucking doctor's today like she said she would.

Apologies for the abnormally bitchy post. They're few and far between, so just take them as they come, okay?
