wits and bits
I'm getting lazier with this blog. To be honest, I'm surprised I've had as much consistency as I have so far. I got my prom dress yesterday. My mother, being the spontaneous bitch that she is, drove of to my father's around 8, waking everyone in the house up in the process. I wasn't there; I was asleep at Anthony/Tom/Jermaine/Trevor's place, so my father called me and told me my mother's spur-of-the-moment, tarded intentions. My car was left at Anthony's and my mother, sister, and I all left for what I thought was going to be dress shopping. We ended up going to Union City for Krispy Kreme donuts on my mother's whim. Her spontaneity can be annoying at times, but it always keeps me on my toes, and it's almost always some sort of half-assed adventure. I tried a "fresh hot" Krispy Kreme donut for the first time, and it really was an experience all in itself. I don't find it amusing that my mother took me for donuts before I went prom dress shopping though. I'm obviously weight obsessed enough. That's not going to help in the slightest. We went to Burlington at the Great Mall, found nothing, and then went to some little hole in the wall a few stores over called Fashionista Style Boutique or something of the sort. The dress I found and eventually ended up buying was hand crafted and created for the intention of modeling. It was worn once in a fashion show and then donated to the Boutique. It ended up fitting me pretty well. My mother apparently cried when she saw me in it. I didn't see any tears, but that didn't stop her from telling me how the dress was "made for me" and all sorts of flattering shit. The dress was originally 400 dollars or so, but it was marked down to about 150 for a quick sale. The beading is phenomenal -- magical, really. I've never seen such a well crafted dress. We went back to Burlington and got some shoes and a shawl and went home. Shopping in all took less than an hour and a half. I was thrilled. My mother called my father and asked him to invite his mother over, so I ended up having to wear my dress in front of my father, mother, grandmother, sister, uncle, and uncle's girlfriend. They were all very kind in their compliments, so it wasn't a terrible experience or anything like that; it was just embarrassing for me. I'm not too thrilled that I'm not going to prom with someone I'm romantically involved/interested in, but I'll make the best of it. An experience is an experience. I was dropped off at Anthony's after everyone left, and ended up napping for a good two/three hours before going home. Yesterday wasn't particularly productive, but I am mowing the lawn today, and that's good!
